And yet we live

We apologize for the dearth of posting lately. Wayland and I have both entered periods of upheaval in our lives, which has eliminated a large portion of our free time. We'd love to get back into the lab, and we still have a lot of ideas up our sleeves, but right now we are simply not able to fit it into our schedules.

We have every intention of returning, as we have before. Most likely, we'll go back to active status around mid-April. (Despite my scientific leanings, my day job is in accounting, and I'm deeply mired in tax season right now.)

See you soon!

I just discovered your blog this evening, and was instantly hooked. I took the time to read every post, from the very beginning, and I think I may have a new infusion hobby. I'll definitely be making the mulled cider infusion this Christmas for all my friends. (I'll try a single bottle first, to make sure it lives up to expectations, but then it'll be time to buy a dozen bottles of vodka.)

I'm curious - have you ever tried just starting with a higher-end vodka and skipping the filtration step? Not that you'd want to do that on a regular basis with the volume of vodka you guys go through, but for the mere mortals that make up most of your readership, it would be nice to know if a bottle of Stoli or something similar could be used without filtration and if that would end up better, worse, or the same as the Mad Scientician Quintuple Filter.

I too just found the blog and read every entry-- I'd love to see more scientistical Big Experiments: does refrigeration make a difference? How often should you switch the apples? What else benefits from being switched out like this?

Cheers
